California Exceptional Economics Teacher Certification

The California Exceptional Economics Teacher Certification Program is a professional learning opportunity open to all teachers who attend the Economics for Empowerment Summer Seminar.

Economics Teacher Certification Requirements

With our guidance and support, take your instruction to a higher level by completing the requirements for certification by CASET and CCEE as a California Exceptional Economics Teacher.

Steps to Certification:

  • Complete the Economics for Empowerment Summer Seminar

  • Pre- and Post-test your students and report the results

  • Develop and implement an Economics Curriculum Map based on lessons from the summer seminar

  • Make a contribution to Economics education by engaging in extra-curricular economics activities such as presenting at statewide social studies and Economics conferences, mentoring your colleagues, attending occasional Economics for Empowerment online discussions, putting on a parent workshop, and other activities developed in consultation with CASET

  • Pass a comprehensive exam based on lessons and materials from the Seminar with the help of the CASET Team

  • Complete an extensive survey on your experience in the classroom using the CASET philosophy and ideas and materials from the seminar

Testimonials from Past Participants

“The certification program training has made economics FUN!!! This is the first training I have been to where ALL of the teachers were engaged!

I’m so grateful to CASET and the Economics for Empowerment workshops. The activities and simulations bring energy and joy to my classroom. The students are excited to come to class and find out what we are doing that day. I’m excited that I can let learning be the focus instead of teaching."
